We introduce a new measure, called Inclusivity Quotient, to evaluate how socially inclusive a website is. Here, we focus on exclusion based upon gender and sexuality. This metric gives an insight into the social inclusivity of a website.
Inclusivity Quotient is a score out of 10; 10 signifying that the website is highly socially inclusive in terms of gender and sexuality.
To calculate the Inclusivity Quotient we assess a website according to these 18 questions(listed below) and rate each of them on a Likert scale of one to five where:
1 - Strongly Disagree | 2 - Disagree | 3 - Neutral | 4 - Agree | 5 - Strongly Agree
The Inclusivity Quotient is calculated as:
[(18*)x(1 to 5)]/ (Max Score = 90)]*10.
Whenever the question is invalid for certain websites, "neutral" i.e. 3 is chosen on the Likert Scale.
Does the website use gender-neutral terms?

Does the website allow the user to choose the pronouns they use?

If the website has the option to include pronouns on user profiles, is it made optional?

If the website has the option of user profiles, does it allow the changing of pronouns?

Does the website challenge pre-existing biases in terms of gender and sexuality?

Does the website use gender and sexuality-inclusive photographs and/or illustrations?

Does the website allow the user to select multiple gender identities while collecting the information?

Does the website allow anonymous feedback from its users?

Does the website gather and incorporate user feedback when deemed appropriate?

Does the website respond to feedback and suggestions after implementing or not implementing them?

Does the website iterate upon its ideals and thought process if and when needed i.e. is it flexible to rational change?

Does the website only ask for relevant user information and not extra, redundant personal user data?

Is justifiable reasoning being provided to the user while asking for personal information?

Does the website restrict homophobic or transphobic comments in order to make its platform a safe space for all its users?

Does the website declare to the public which measures are being taken to combat social exclusion based on gender and sexuality?

Does the website allow change of gender and sexuality identity post account creation?

If the website personalizes its platform for the user, are the backend algorithms independent from conventional societal gender and sexuality norms?

Does the website break gender stereotypes in UI
elements?
